Dear Poets -

We're looking forward to having you in Austin for this year's NPS. Please look to this page for updates on information that will help you have a better Nationals experience. We'll be sharing this info with your slammaster as well, but when you've got a question about something and it's 3 in the morning, this page will be here for you.

What if we have extra people coming who need tickets?

When you arrive in Austin, we'll have weekly passes available for sale (for the low price of ten bucks), which will get passholders into all preliminary events, late-night readings and workshops, and the team semifinals event on Friday night. The weekly pass is the most economical option available, particularly for people in your entourage who will be going to bouts and readings with your team all week. Tickets for Indie and Team Finals at the Paramount Theatre will be available for purchase at the Paramount office or at www.gettix.net.

What's the best way to get around?

Capital Metro has frequent buses and streetcars (known as "Dillos") that frequently travel the downtown and South Congress neighborhoods in which NPS will be headquartered. To learn more about Capital Metro routes, click here.

How Do I Submit My Bio

You'll be able to select your team name, input your name and bio. After approval by a moderator, it will be live on the website. Only Team members, Coaches, and Slammasters should post bios.

Please spread the word to your crews.

NOTICE: Child care will no longer be offered at NPS 2007 due to a lack of response to our call for participants.

Will it be hot?

Yes. In August, highs will be typically anywhere from the low 90s to the low 100s, but in the evening, that drops to the 70s and 80s. We can't recommend this enough: stay hydrated. Drink lots of water, and be sure to take some water with you if you're going to be outside for any extended period of time. If bright sun bothers you, don't be afraid to carry an umbrella around to give yourself some portable shade. Once you're inside, of course, air-conditioning is the norm rather than the exception, and If you're walking to day events, you might want to carry some cab fare with you for an air-conditioned trip back to the hotel.
